With over 20 years of professional experience, Matt is a highly fluent and versatile musician whose work spans jazz, classical, bluegrass, and Latin traditions. In addition to performing, he is an accomplished composer and arranger, creating original music as well as arrangements for other artists.
Vinyl DJ & Production
A longtime vinyl collector, Matt naturally expanded into DJing under the name DJ Cogs, where he curates and performs sets rooted in funk, disco, jazz fusion, hip hop, and neo-soul. In 2020, he began releasing original music as MS Cogs, focusing on jazzy beats and experimental electronic production.
Bass Guitar
Matt has toured nationally with Zoofunkyou, the band he has co-led for more than a decade, and has shared the stage with many of Chicago’s most respected musicians, including Howard Levy, Rubén Álvarez, and Paul Wertico.
